Carrier-Class Residential Gateway Reference Platform
Jungo's OpenRG™ Software Suite Integrated with Mindspeed's
Comcerto™ 100
Processors Provides Complete Broadband Home Router Platform
NEWPORT BEACH and SAN JOSE Calif., January
8, 2008 - Mindspeed
Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor
solutions for
network infrastructure applications, and Jungo Ltd., a leading
provider of broadband
value–added-service solutions, today announced that the
two companies have integrated
Jungo’s OpenRG™ software with Mindspeed’s Comcerto™ 100
broadband gateway
processors. The integrated product targets operators that plan
to fully utilize their fiber
access network capacity to deliver media-rich services.
The integrated product is a high-performance, Gigabit Ethernet
and voice-over-IP
(VoIP) platform that enables operators to offer their customers
home entertainment
applications, such as high definition IPTV and video on demand.
The new solution has
been selected by OEMs such as JStream Technologies for their
next-generation
broadband gateway and broadband home router designs.
“When Jstream was asked to provide broadband gateway solutions
for one of the
largest service providers in the world, we turned to Mindspeed
and Jungo to bring these
new products to market quickly,” said Dr. James Chen, president
and chief executive
officer of JStream Technologies. “Mindspeed’s high-performance
Comcerto 100
processor and Jungo’s field-proven OpenRG software provided
the right combination of
speed and functionality for JStream to succeed with this and
with future deployments at
other service providers.”
The Comcerto 100 broadband gateway processor powered by Jungo's
software
enables service providers to deploy sophisticated, reliable services
with the high-packet
throughput required for delivering next-generation multimedia
content to their subscribers.
It offers intelligent sophisticated data routing with quality
of service (QoS),
carrier-class VoIP, IPv6 support, virtual private networks with
firewalls, as well as
seamless support for multiple, emerging local area network (LAN)
and wide area
network (WAN) networking technologies.
“Our collaboration with Jungo offers OEM customers a compelling
price/performance solution for the fast growing broadband gateway
and service router
market,” said Preet Virk, senior vice president and general
manager of Mindspeed’s
enterprise and customer premise equipment business unit. “Combining
the superior
applications and performance headroom of the Comcerto 100 broadband
gateway
processor with Jungo’s field-proven OpenRG software suite
enables us to bring to the
market a complete, ready-to-deploy, open source-friendly platform
for service providers.”
OpenRG is a scalable suite of software technologies that includes
application
programming interfaces (APIs) for a wide range of popular services
and functions,
including IPTV, home media distribution, WLAN, firewall, VoIP,
IP-Private Branch
Exchange (IP-PBX), remote file access and parental control. This
robust functionality
gives gateway manufacturers and operators unrivaled flexibility
for rapidly developing
market-specific products.
“Service providers strive to build and maintain their
presence and service uptake
within the subscriber’s digital home in order to increase
their average revenue per user
and reduce customer churn, and are seeking a solution that provides
superior service
delivery," said Moshe Zimerman, Jungo's vice president of
sales. “Our collaboration
with Mindspeed using their Comcerto 100 broadband gateway processors
delivers a
comprehensive solution for deploying and managing the multi-service
connected home.”
