Introduction to Conditional Access
Description: A high level general introduction to NDS VideoGuard®,
describing the fundamental concepts of conditional access
and how it fits into a digital broadcasting system. This is an introductory
course, designed to establish a common frame of reference for managers,
engineers and operators. It lays the theoretical foundation upon which
other courses will build.
Duration: 2 days
Advanced CA Systems Engineering
Description: This course is aimed at systems engineers responsible for
the configuration and administration of an NDS VideoGuard headend. As
the content of the course assumes a high level of administrative privileges,
it should only be attended by appropriately qualified delegates. This
is an advanced course, to train engineers to begin to understand the internals
of the VideoGuard system. The course lays the foundation to diagnose VideoGuard
application, database and system issues.
Duration: 3 days
CA Operational Engineering
Description: This course is aimed at operational
engineers responsible for the day-to-day operation and support of the
NDS VideoGuard headend system. The course includes a basic layout of the
CA hardware and networking, with an introduction to accessing basic operations
level services on the UNIX and Windows 2000 servers. SNMP monitoring technology
is discussed.

Introduction to StreamServer
Description: A high level overview of NDS
StreamServer™ and how
it fits into a digital broadcasting system. This is an
introductory course, designed to establish a common frame of reference
for managers, engineers and operators. It lays the foundations upon which
the other courses will build.
Duration: 1 day
StreamServer Operations (Level 1)
Description: A course designed to meet
the operational requirements of first level operational staff. This course
builds on the foundations laid by the Introduction to StreamServer course.
All interaction with the system is via the user interface suite; no direct
access to the Oracle database or UNIX operating system is required.
Duration: 2 days
StreamServer Operations (Level 2)
Description: A course designed to meet
the advanced requirements of second level operational staff. This course
builds on the StreamServer Operations Course (Level 1). Second level operational
tasks can be defined as those configuration and supervision tasks that
typically require a higher level of user privilege and would not typically
be daily tasks.
Duration: 2 days
StreamServer Systems Engineering
Description: This course is designed
to enable StreamServer support staff to confidently monitor and control
the headend applications. It concentrates on start-up and shutdown procedures,
health checking and basic troubleshooting.
Duration: 2 days
UNIX Basics
Description: This course provides an introduction to the UNIX
operating system, with plenty of hands on work. It introduces all the
basic commands and concepts of UNIX, and compares these with other operating
systems such as MS-DOS.
NB: This course is not designed to replace formal UNIX training, it is
intended to provide the bare minimum for safe and competent operation
of the system.
